Moromoro bestaat 3 jaar. Deze mijlpaal vraagt om een evaluatie van het bedrijf. Een terugblik, het nu moment en een blik op de toekomst van moromoro.

Op 26 juli 2011 is moromoro opgericht door
Monique Ravensberg als een parttime sociale onderneming. Moromoro verkoopt sieraden en accessoires gemaakt  van 'pittenklei' uit Senegal en Mali. Een bijzonder materiaal met een geur.

Opbouw van moromoro

Samenwerken met vrouwen in Senegal en Mali, het materiaal 'pittenklei' beter leren kennen, weten wat de 'groene' klant wilt en meer kennis krijgen over bedrijfsvoering staan centraal in het eerste jaar. Investering zit voornamelijk in tijd voor materiaal onderzoek, relatie met vrouwen opbouwen en netwerken. De investering in geld zit vooral in research en een collectie sieraden uitvoeren in Senegal, presentatie van de collectie en scholing in sociaal ondernemen.

2012-2013. Moromoro groeit in kennis

Met het onderzoek naar de 'pittenklei' komt ook de veelzijdigheid van het materiaal naar boven.Drijfsfeer is om een 'groene' sieraden en home accessoires collectie te ontwerpen. De geur is natuurlijk maar er wordt vaak synthetische geuren aan toegevoegd. Moromoro moet een eigen natuurlijke geur krijgen en start met een ontwikkel proces, dat nog loopt. Het onderzoek vordert en geeft ruimte om een boek te maken. Hiervoor wordt veldonderzoek en bronnen bekeken en gegevens verzameld. Door deze keuze moet de marketing wachten. Maar de klant goede informatie te geven en het product  te verbeteren in kwaliteit zijn belangrijk.

2013-2014.'De verleiding van moromoro'

Kennis van het cultureel erfgoed over het gebruik van 'pittenklei' wordtgedeeld in het boek'De verleiding van moromoro'. Met het boek komt er een einde aan het uitgebreide onderzoek van het materiaal 'pittenklei' in meer traditionele vorm. Onderzoek naar innovatie en cultivatie van de dankhe boom in Senegal en Mali gaan door.

Naamsbekendheid en omzet.

Een kleine collectie van moromoro sieraden en potjes zijn te zien, ruiken en voelen in salon d'Afrique en in Labyrinth en . Daarnaast wordt er binnen het netwerk wat verkocht. Naamsbekendheid lokaal groeit, dat zijn de eerste stappen. Vooralsnog zijn de investeringen groter dan de omzet.

Vrouwenconnectie

In Senegal heeft moromoro een stevige band ontwikkeld met ambachtsvrouwen, die kwaliteiten producten kunnen maken. Zij kunnen ook tot een bepaalde hoogte ontwerpen uitwerken. In Nederland is moromoro verbonden met Collage netwerk. Hier is een klankbord en er worden inspiratiedagen georganiseerd door en voor vrouwelijke ondernemers.

De toekomst kondigt zich aan in de geur van een groene belofte rustend op een sieraad van een bewuste vooruitstrevende vrouw, die zich verbonden voelt met de wereld.

Toekomst Moromoro wil vergroening door het aanbieden van duurzame lifestyle sieraden met een geur.

Moromorsieraden en potjes zijn in meerdere opzichten duurzaam. Kwaliteit en materiaal, maar ook de productie methoden zijn ethical. De geur kun je opnieuw opladen, waardoor zowel sieraden als potjes een dubbele functie hebben: sieren en geuren. Met de ontwikkeling van een moromoro geur zal de cirkel van een cradle2cradle sieraden collectie rond zijn.

Het sterker maken van vrouwen door de verbinding met vrouwen uit het westen. Beiden hebben elkaar iets te bieden en moromoro brengt dit samen.

Meer aanplant van bomen en met name dankte bomen in Senegal en Mali. Hiervoor heeft moromoro al samenwerking gezocht met lokale organisaties in Senegal, zoals met kwekerij Fadial.

edelsmeden

Om mijn kennis en techniek over sieraden te vergroten doe ik een cursus edelsmeden. Metaal is anders dan plantaardige klei en ik ben benieuwd hoe deze in een ontwerp samen komen.

In de eerste opdracht wordt een broche gemaakt van drie metalen, door deze te zagen, vijlen, polijsten en solderen. Bij de tweede opdracht wordt van een plat stuk metaal een drie dimensionaal object gemaakt, door deze te knippen of zagen.

Voor deze opdracht heb ik een ontwerp gemaakt. Het wordt een bloem in alpaca. Op het einde wil ik er een moromoro kraal in doen. Maar eerst heel veel zagen. Wordt vervolg ...

To increase my knowledge and techniques about jewelry I'm doing a course on goldsmiths. Metal is different from organic clay and I like to put them together in a design. 

In the first assignment three metals come together in a brooch, using the basic techniques. The second task is to make a three-dimensional object from a flat piece of metal, by cutting or sawing. 

For this assignment I made a design. It is a flower in alpaca. In the end, I'll try to put in a bead of moromoro. But first saw much more. To be continued ...

Pour augmenter mes connaissances et techniques sur les bijoux que je fais un cours orfèvres. Le métal est différente, alors argile de plantes et je me demande comment cela se conjugue dans une conception.

 La première commande est de fabrique une broche en trois métaux. Voici les techniques de base de coupe, classement, de polissage et de soudure utilisés. La seconde commande est de faire un objet trois demensionnel à partir d'un morceau de métal, par coupe ou de sciage et de flexion.

Pour cette mission j'ai fait un dessin. C'est une fleur en alpaga. En fin de compte, je vais essayer de mettre dans un bourrelet de moromoro. Mais d'abord vu beaucoup plus.

Iemand vroeg me 'Hoe is het met het boek?'
Een goede vraag en ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat er veel tijd overheen gaat. Misschien ben ik in de valkuil van het eeuwig redigeren gevallen. Dat houdt het maken van een boek op of het maakt je onzeker.

Nog een keer wil ik dat het manuscript gelezen wordt. Dit keer puur op de inhoud vanuit antroposofisch uitgangspunt. Het manuscript wordt gestuurd naar twee antropologen, die beiden verbonden zijn met West Afrika.

Speurtocht naar Marie Jose Opper
Ik ben ook op zoek naar Marie Jose Opper. Zij is de enige auteur, die uitgebreid over parfum sieraden uit Noord en West Afrika heeft geschreven. Het is best spannend, omdat ze niet via het internet te benaderen is.
Inmiddels ben ik lid geworden van Ethnic Jewels, waar ze ook lid van is en heb haar een bericht gestuurd. Het is wel ruim 6 maanden geleden dat ze Ethnic Jewel heeft bezocht. Wordt vervolgt.

Op deze manier heb ik ook getracht om in contact te komen met Adama Bah Konare, de schrijfster van Parfums du Mali. Het is me gelukt om haar dochter te bereiken, die het boekje heeft uitgegeven. Het mailcontact heeft geen kennisdelen opgeleverd. Er was interesse om het boekje te verkopen en daarna bleef het stil.

Jammer, want ik vind het belangrijk om mensen die al onderzoek naar sieraden en parfum in Mali en Senegal hebben gedaan op de hoogte te stellen van mijn activiteiten. Het gaat hierbij niet om mij, maar meer om de documentatie van een stuk cultureel erfgoed.

Manuscript 
Nu het manuscript zo goed als af is kan het framewerk worden ingevuld, de foto's worden bewerkt en de opmaak worden uitgevoerd. Deze stappen doe ik binnen de richtlijnen van Blurb, want daar zal ik het boek laten printen. Daarbij komt er een e-book editie.

Vertalen
Tot slot is fijn als het boek vertaald gaat worden in Engels en Frans, zodat de vrouwen van West Afrika, de artiesten, maar ook vrouwen die van moromoro houden, meer informatie kunnen lezen. Tegelijk kunnen andere artiesten, musea of green fashion ontwerpen inspiratie opdoen in plantaardige keramiek.

Zaterdag 6 juli: De zon schijnt en de hippiemarkt komt al vroeg op gang. Om 10.00 uur zijn de meeste  kraamhouders bezig hun spullen neer te leggen. Onze kraam staat half in de schaduw, half in de zon.

Samen met Ada huren we een kraam. Zo delen we de kosten en hebben we elk een halve kraam. Een klein stukje is voor moromoro. Daarnaast verkoop ik ook speelgoed en kinderkleding, wat past op deze markt. Ada verkoopt vooral Afrikaanse sieraden en accessoires. Ik doe henna schilderen erbij en Ada maakt gekleurde vlechtjes met kauri schelpen of moromoro geurkralen.
Veel mensen gaan met het warme weer naar het strand of park. Het is rustig op de markt. Het netwerken werkte prima.

In de meeste kraampjes worden oude spullen en snuisterijen verkocht. Een vrouw verkoopt sieraden uit de jaren 60 en 70. Ze geeft me een kleine demonstratie sieraden.
 

Voor de kids is er genoeg te doen. Er is een zweefmolen voor kleine kinderen en grote kids klimmen op een reuze voetbal of springen aan een elastiek. Er zijn workshops armbandjes maken, haarvlechten en ze kunnen bij moromoro een henna schildering laten maken.

Om 17.00 is het inpakken. Vlakbij de Statenweg, waar de hippiemarkt was. ligt op 100 meter afstand het Vroezenpark. Als we daar hadden gestaan was het wellicht beter gegaan met verkopen. De mensenmassa zitten hutje mutje op het grasveld gepakt.

Hippy market
Saturday July 6: The sun is shining and the hippymarket is early going. Most stallholders finalize organising their stuff around 10 h'clock. Our booth is half in shadow, half in the sun.

Together with Ada we rent a stall. So we share the cost and we each have a half stall. A small piece is moromoro. In addition, I also sell toys and children's clothing, which fits this market. Ada mainly sells African jewelry and accessories. I do henna painting there and Ada is colored braids with cowrie shells or moromoro fragrance beads.

Many people go with the hot weather to the beach or park. It is quiet in the market. Networking goes well.
In most of the stalls old stuff and oddments is being sold. A woman sells jewelry from the 60s and 70s. She gives me a small jewelry demonstration.

For the kids there is plenty to do. There is a carousel for little kids and big kids can climb on a giant football or jumping to a rubber band. There are workshops make bracelets, hair braids and they can make a henna painting at the booth of moromoro.

At 5 h'clock it's packing time. 100 Meters from the street, where the hippy market is located, there's the a big park. If we had been there, it might have been better to sell. The people are sitting packed on the lawn.

Samedi Juillet 6: Le soleil brille et le hippymarket s'instale tot. La plupart des vedeurs sont finis autour de 10 heure. Notre stand est à moitié dans l'ombre, moitié au soleil.

Ensemble avec Ada nous louons un stand. Nous partagons le coût et nous avons chacun un demi-espace de stand. Un petit morceau est pour moromoro. Je vends aussi des jouets et des vêtements pour enfants, ce qui correspond à ce type de marché. Ada vend principalement des bijoux et des accessoires africaine. A cote je peint au henné et Ada  tresse avec les cheveux coloré et des cauris ou des perles parfume de moromoro.

Beaucoup de gens frefare d'allee à la plage ou au parc avec le chaleur, donc ca reste calme sur le marché. Dans la plupart des stands des vieux trucs et bricoles qui est vendu. Une femme vend des bijoux à partir des années 60 et 70. Elle me donne une petite démonstration command de faire de bijoux.

Pour les enfants il ya beaucoup à faire. Il ya un manège pour les petits enfants et les grands enfants peuvent grimper sur un ballon de football géant ou de sauter à une bande de caoutchouc. Il y a des ateliers pour faire des bracelets, des tresses les cheveux et ils peuvent faire une peinture de henné sur le stand de moromoro.

A 17 heure c'est temps d'emballage. 100 mètres de la reu où se trouve le marché hippy, il y a une parc. Si nous avions été là, il aurait été préférable de vendre. Le parc avait change de couleur, avec toutes les personnes. 

Kleur en geur

Geuren brengen je in een stemming, je waarschuwen, herinneringen oproepen, en helend werken.

The Hague African Festival dag

Een mooie locatie in het hartje van Den Haag. Het zonnetje liet zich niet veel zien, maar er waren genoeg mensen die een kijkje namen en de Afrikaanse sfeer konden proeven.

Samenwerking uit zich ook in de verkoopactiviteiten. Samen met mijn vriendin Ada en haar dochter 'bemannen' we in de kraam van moromoro. Ada verkoopt haar eigen spullen en vlecht haar. Ik schilder henna erbij. Naast de geurkettingen en potjes zijn er sleutelhangers, wierook en parfum te koop. In het kader van de samenwerking met kwekerij Fadial worden er kleine probeer zakjes bissap en baobabpoeder verkocht.

Het festival wordt georganiseerd door stichting Sankofa, die nauwe banden met Ghana heeft.  De meest verkochte artikelen komen uit West Afrika. Sieraden, kleding en tassen liggen volop uitgestald, zowel in een lage prijsklassen als hoger.

In een aantal kramen worden producten verkocht vanuit een opgezet project in Afrika, zoals Product of prison. De kettingen van papieren kralen uit Uganda, worden gemaakt door vrouwen, in gevangenschap.Projecten in het zuiden van Senegal worden mogelijk gemaakt door Mapat, zoals een kraamkliniek. Adamfo Ghana richt zich op straatkinderen en jongeren in Ghana.

Vanaf het podium klinken in de middag bekende geluiden. Sabar en tama spelen ene Senegalees ritme. Dat moet ik zien. Heel leuk om dan een aantal bekende muzikanten hun ding te zien doen op het podium. En dan is het genieten.

The Hague African Festival day
A beautiful location in the heart of The Hague. The sun showed itself little, but there were plenty of people who visit  the African festival.

Cooperation activities of moromoro is also reflected in the sales. Together with my friend Ada we are in the booth moromoro. Ada sells its own stuff and braids hair. I paint henna. Besides the typical moromoro products as smell chains and parfumed potterie, incense and perfume are for sale. Within the framework of cooperation with foundation Fadial, are small packetches of bissap and baobab powder sold.

The festival is organized by Sankofa Foundation, which has close ties with Ghana. The most popular items are from West Africa. Jewelry, clothing and bags are fully displayed, both in low and higher price ranges.
A number of products are sold from foundations, that set up projects in Africa.

The sound from the stage in the afternoon is familiar. Sabar and tama play a Senegalese rhythm. I gotta see. Very nice to see and play, a number of musicians that I know, together on stage. Then I just enjoy.

Le jour du The Hague African Festival.
Un bel emplacement au cœur de La Haye. Le soleil se montrait pas souvat, mais il y avait beaucoup de personnes qui visite le festival Africain.

La coopération de moromoro est également reflétée dans les activités de vente. Avec ma copine Ada,  nous sommes dans le moromoro stand. Ada vend ses propres trucs et tresser les cheveux. Je peins aussi henné. Autre produits de moromoro sont les chaînes d'odeur et bocaux sont porte-clés, de l'encens et de parfum. Dans le cadre de la coopération avec le foundation Fadial, on avons vendu des petits sachets de bissap et de poudre de baobab.

Le festival est organisé par la Fondation Sankofa, qui a des liens étroits avec le Ghana. Les articles les plus populaires sont l'Afrique occidentale, les bijoux, vêtements et sacs sont entièrement affichées, tant dans les gammes de prix faibles et élevés. Plusiuers foundations sont represente et vendent des produits Africain.

Dans l'après-midi il y a la musique familier. Sabar et tama jouent un rythme sénégalais. Je dois voir. Très agréable d'avoir un certain nombre de musiciens je connais joue ensemble au podium.

Moromoro staat zaterdag 29 juni op de gratis markt van het African festival in het hartje van Den Haag. Hier kun je uitgebreid kennis maken met de sieraden en parfums van moromoro, andere Afrikaanse sieraden, henna schildering laten aanbrengen of je haar kleuren met een coole vlecht. Kun je niet genoeg krijgen van het Afrika gevoel, koop dan aansluitend een ticket voor de concerten van Meiway en Sekou Bambino.

In voorbereiding op de markt zijn er stickers gemaakt. Henna pasta staat in de koelkast, wierook in potjes met een moromoro label, parfum flesjes gelabeld en promotie kaart voor in de kraam met een pitch over moromoro op papier in woord en beeld. Er zal ook aandacht zijn voor kwekerij Fadial en voor het eerst wordt er hibiscus (bissap) en babobabpoeder verkocht met recept. 

Speciaal voor deze dag komt mijn vriendin Ada, uit Mali haarvlechten. Het haar kan versierd worden met gekleurd haar, een kauri schelp of een originele moromoro geurkraal. Kinderen kunnen een plantaardig armbandje maken van raffia en moromoro kralen, kauri schelpen of een pit met de naam Jacobs tear. Ik ga met natuurlijke henna schilderen op handen of enkels.

Kortom genoeg te beleven en doen bij de kraam van moromoro. Je bent van harte welkom morgen. Laat je onderdompelen in een Afrikaanse sfeer en kom morgen gezellig langs.

Samedi, juin 29, moromoro est au marché libre du festival Africain au cœur de La Haye. Ici vous pouvez en savoir plus sur les bijoux et les parfums moromoro, d'autres bijoux Africains, peinture au henné ou pour faire votre couleur de cheveux avec une tresse cool. Vous ne pouvez pas obtenir assez de sens Africain, puis acheter un billet pour le concert de Meiway et Sékou Bambino.

En préparation pour le marché il ya des autocollants faits. Pâte de henné se trouve dans le frigo, de l'encens dans des bocaux avec un moromoro d'étiquettes, bouteilles de parfum sont aussi marqués. What about moromoro?

Het schrijfwerk voor het boek is in volle gang.

Grappig is dat je met het schrijven de puntjes op de i gaat zetten, waardoor kleine verborgen wetenswaardigheden beter in zicht komen. Zoals bij het gedeelte over de productie met beschrijvingen hoe kettingen, potten en schalen worden gemaakt. Elke methode is aangepast aan de mogelijkheden van de pittenklei.

Het researchwerk over keramiek in West Afrika is een ware ontdekking. Oude beschavingen als de Nok-cultuur uit Nigeria. De terracotta voorwerpen en sculpturen hebben allen een typische stijl en zijn van uitzonderlijke kwaliteit.

Al deze ontdekkingen houdt het schrijven spannend.

The writing of the book is in full swing.

L'écriture du livre est en plein essor.
Le plus drôle est que vous découvrirez petits faits cachés et vous les faire sortir mieux en vue. Comme la section sur la production de descriptions comment colliers, des pots et bols sont faits. Chaque procédé est adapté aux capacités de l'argile pitt.

Les travaux de recherche sur la céramique en Afrique de l'Ouest est une découverte. Les civilisations anciennes telles que la culture Nok du Nigeria. Les objets en terre cuite et les sculptures ont tous un style typique et sont d'une qualité exceptionnelle.
