#SEfair - Strawberry Earth Fair 2014

Strawberry Earth fair is een festival op een inspirerende plek aan de Tolhuisstraat in Amsterdam Noord. Een goed gevuld programma met workshops en activiteiten. 

Ik had me ingeschreven voor de sushi workshop, maar kwam er niet aan toe. De talkshow over de toekomst van de mode had al mijn aandacht. 


Hoe krijgen we de mode industrie meer naar slow fashion?
Deze industrie loopt hopeloos achter met het nemen van stappen, hoewel er genot innovaties zijn. het oude concept van massa en dus overproductie lijkt voor de klant goedkoop, maar de kosten voor moeder aarde en de textielwerkers zijn dubbel zo hoog. Op alle fronten moet er verandering komen, willen we in de toekomst nog keuzes kunnen maken. Ook koning klant zal zijn verantwoording hierin moeten nemen voor de toekomst van onze wereld. 


Maar wat zijn de alternatieven? 
Op de fair staan een aantal brands met hun producten, zoals K.O.I (Kings of Indigo) en ook de Textielfabrique. In de expositie ruimte laten ontwerpers hun innovatieve producten zien.

Strawberry Earth fair is a festival on an inspiring place at the Tolhuisstraat in the North of Amsterdam. A full program of workshops and activities. 

I had signed up for the sushi workshop, but did not come round to it. The talk show about the future of fashion had all my attention. 

How do we get the fashion industry to more slow? 
This industry is hopelessly behind in taking steps, although so many innovations. The old concept of mass production and so on seems to the customer cheap, but the cost to Mother Earth and the textile workers are twice as high. The costumer should also take on responsibility by making better choices for the future of our world. 

But what are the alternatives? 
On the fair are a number of brands and their products, such as KOI (Kings of Indigo) and the Textilefabrique. In the exhibition space designers to show their innovative products.

Je m'étais inscrit à une workshop de sushi, mais je n'ai pas se rallier à elle. Le talk-show sur l'avenir de la mode avait toute mon attention. 

Comment pouvons-nous faire l'industrie de la mode plus lent?
Cette industrie est désespérément en retard à prendre des mesures, même si à de nombreuses innovations. Le vieux concept de production de masse et ainsi de suite semble le client pas cher, mais le coût a Mere Terre et les travailleurs du textile sont deux fois de plus. Le costumier doit également assumer la responsabilité de faire une meilleurs choix pour l'avenir de notre monde. 

Mais quelles sont les alternatives? 
Sur la foire existe un certain nombre de marques et de leurs produits, tels que KOI (Kings of Indigo) et la Textilefabrique. Dans les concepteurs de l'espace d'exposition pour présenter leurs produits innovants.

#Africanroadshow

Dinsdag 8 oktober is door de kamer van koophandel in Amsterdam de africanroadshow georganiseerd met het thema Dutch Design 2 Africa. Mijn nieuwsgierigheid is gewekt en op de aankondiging blijkt dat er veel mode design is. Sprekers als Stella van Himbergen van DDiD en Cas Abeln van Vlisco Group zijn interessant om te gaan zien en horen.

Tijdens de introductie blijkt dat het gaat om Nederlandse designers warm te maken voor investeringen en werken in Afrika, met name Zuid Afrika. Het gaat niet zo zeer om designers die een productie in Afrika hebben en het vervolgens in het westen willen verkopen, zoals moromoro.

Een aantal gasten lichten toe waar je als ondernemer op moet letten als je in Afrika wilt investeren, produceren of verkopen, van betrouwbare business partners tot corruptie en van culturele verschillen tot de voordelen hiervan. Vooral de Nederlandse manier van denken kwam meerdere keren voorbij, die zichtbaar is in het bedenken van oplossingen of opmerkelijke ontwerpen.
In Zuid Afrika wordt in 2014 de world design capital 2014 cape town georganiseerd. Sociale, fysieke en logistieke problemen rondom verstedelijking zijn slechts een paar voorbeelden waar slimme op praktische oplossingen voor nodig zijn. Kennis uit het buitenland kan hierop een antwoord geven; kansen voor designers.

Het verhaal van Stella van Himbergen van DDiD klonk bekend in de oren. DDiD geeft adviezen aan ethical ontwerpers in bijvoorbeeld materiaalkeuze.

TIP: op de site van doingbusiness.org, staat een ranking lijst met welke landen op basis van zakendoen. De score is onder andere opgebouwd uit papierwerk, vervoer, belastingen, enzovoorts.

De talk van Cathal McKee van CMK1 heeft op mij het meest indruk gemaakt. Hij vertelde zijn persoonlijke verhaal over hoe en waarom hij in Zuid Afrika is gaan wonen. De inspiratie van de ongestructureerdheid en de vele voorbeelden werden in komisch en vlot vertelt. Donkere Zuid Afrikanen die zich herontdekken en vervolgens manifesteren in een smeltkroes van culturen. Cathal sluit zijn talk af met zijn 4 i's: inrelavantie, inpermanentie, inperfectie en inspiratie.

Dat laatste heeft hij mij wel meegegeven. Via een zoektocht op internet naar een aantal van zijn beelden kwam ik bij fashionclash, salon/locale en gaschette magazine.

Tuesday, October 8 , the africa roadshow is organized by the Chamber of Commerce in Amsterdam with the theme Dutch design 2 Africa. My curiosity was aroused together with the announcement that there is a lot of fashion design .
 
During the introduction it became clear that it is about getting Dutch designers to invest or work in Africa; especially South Africa.  It's not so much about designers who have a production in Africa and then to sell their product in the West, like moromoro. 

Some guests explain what comes in your way when you want to invest in Africa, in matters of production, selling, reliable business partners, corruption and cultural differences. Especially the Dutch way of thinking was several times heard. That becomes visible in solution thinking and remarkable designs.

The world design capital 2014 cape town is organized in 2014 in South Africa. Social, physical and logistical problems associated with urbanization are just a few examples where smart and practical solutions are needed. Knowledge from abroad can have an answer; opportunitie for designers. 

The story of Stella Himbergen of DDiD sounded fimiliar. DDiD gives advice to ethical designers in choices for material and production worldwide. TIP: On doingbusiness.org there is a ranking list of which countries do well in bussiness. The score consists of  documents, transport, taxes, and so on. 

The talk of Cathal McKee of CMK1  ​​impressed me the most. He told his personal story about how and why he went to live South Africa. He is inspired by thenon structured society. He spoke in a comic and smooth style and gave many vivid examples. Dark South Africans who rediscover their roots and then manifest this in a melting pot of cultures and images. Cathal concludes with his 4 i's; inrelavance, inpermanence, inperfection and inspiration. The latter he has given me. Through an internet search for some of his images I came to fashionclash, salon/locale and gaschette magazine. 

Mardi, Octobre 8, roadshow de l'Afrique est organisé par la Chambre de Commerce d'Amsterdam dans la thème Dutch Design 2 Africa. Ma curiosité est éveillée et ensemble avec l'annonce de plusieurs parleurs de mode. Parleurs comme Stella Himbergen de DDiD et Cas Abeln de Vlisco Group sont intéressant d'aller.

Dans l'introduction c'etais claire que le purposede seminar etais de stimule des néerlandais d'investire en Afrique, surtous en Afrique du Sud. Il ne s'agit pas tellement de designers qui ont une production en Afrique, puis de vendre dans l'Ouest, comme moromoro.  

L'histoire de Stella Himbergen de DDiD semblait familier. DDiD offre des conseils sur les créateurs éthiques dans les matériaux, par exemple. TIP; Au doingbusiness.org il ya une liste de classement des pays qui réussissent bien dans bussiness. Le score est constituée de documents, le transport, les taxes, etc.
 

La conférence de Cathal McKee de CMK1 m'a impressione le plus. Il a raconté son histoire personnelle sur comment et pourquoi il est allé vivre en Afrique du Sud. Il est inspiré par la société non-structurée. Il parlait dans un style comique et lisse et a donné de nombreux exemples frappants. Noir Sud-Africains qui redécouvrent leurs racines et se manifeste alors cela dans un melting-pot de cultures et d'images. Cathal conclut avec son 4 i'S; inrelavance, inpermanence, inperfection et d'inspiration. Le dernier qu'il m'a donné. Grâce à une recherche sur Internet pour certains de ses images je suis venu à fashionclash, salon/locale et gaschette magazine.
